Dynamic Reliability Analysis of Large-Span Structures under Crowd Bouncing Excitation

Bouncing is one of the most common human crowd activities on civil infrastructures such as sports stadiums and concert halls, where audience tends to make their bodies jump up down celebrate or participate in sport musical events. Dynamic loads are thus generated exerted structures, giving unpleasant structural vibration, which may affect functionality structure even lead a panic crowd. Although researchers have studied human-induced vibration from many perspectives including load models, calculation methods, criteria for serviceability evaluation, etc., there has been minimal work regarding crowd-induced reliability analysis, mainly because stochastic feature well mechanism describing crowd–structure interaction still not clear. In this paper, framework calculate that considers effect proposed validated through an experimental test. The dynamic parameters bouncing person adopted previous statistical study. feasibility probability density evolution method (PDEM) proved be effective under analyzed based responses. Results show consideration significantly affects reliability, also dependent various factors frequency, failure criteria, limit threshold, model parameter distribution, etc. This paper provides foundation performance-based design large-span structures.
